iperborea (in english hyperborea) is a legendary land, home of the also mythical people of the hyperboreans. in the myths of greek religion, the hyperboreans were a people who lived in a distant land to the north of greece. this region was a perfect country, illuminated by the shining sun for six months of the year. the ep opens with the track -nuda veritas-, characterized by sound textures that recall an aquatic and evanescent environment, giving the track a charge of mystery and the unknown. then the journey goes to -iperborea-, which gives the album its title, there are strong references to the power of the sun and the mythical people of the hyperboreans. the first is given by the constant presence of a modulated niose that simulates the solar wind, that is a flow of particles emitted by the sun. on the other hand, the reference to the mythical people is made through a pressing and epic groove, and by the contrast of these two elements with a pad/stab synth that transits in the middle of the track. the latter outlines a dreamlike and suspended atmosphere that praises this distant and legendary land that was iperborea (hyperborea). among with these original tracks, the ep also containes remixes by scope and laertes. laertes’ rexmis is focused on soft and gentle mysterious mood while scope’s one is more focused on mysterious but powerful which makes audience imagine somewhat aspects of a destructive god. together they are making a perfect pair match for this ep>

some time ago, lennart heyndels sought refuge in modular synthesis after injury prevented him from playing the double bass. in 2019 he continued this research into the physics of sound in a small hut in norway and came back with this album

repress - pursuing their explorations in the vast corridors of international funk and disco music, favorite recordings and bruno patchworks hovart present us voilaaa. with this first single composed of 2 tracks that clearly reveal the afro-disco inspiration of this new experience, favorite also expands its new series of disco 12inch singles recently launched with several fine reissues, but this time with one of its special homemade production recipe. under the imprint of the label and after their long years of collaboration in the achievement of projects such as the dynamics, mr president, mr day, patchworks galactic project, or taggy matcher, the insatiable french producer therefore returns to his first love and specialty, disco music, staring this time at the african and caribbean influences. indeed, as everywhere in the 70s and 80s, funk and disco movements were extremely influential in these regions, and in most cases, the combination of the festive, yet sometime futile nature of disco, and the instinctive, deep, sometimes rough nature of african music, sounds like a perfect balance. aiming to find back this energy and specific sound, patchworks quickly began producing a few tracks, using his unique and ruling beats and bass lines as foundations, this time he dresses all with guitars, keyboards and brass distorted with vintage and diy effects pedals and boxes. with a very dynamic music scene around him in lyon, where there is no shortage of artists with african origins, he decided to surround himself with singers from the region, even if it means to accompany them on unusual musical paths. a more than successful bet with a result surprising of authenticity, as it’s unveiled by these first two titles alongside sir jean and pat kalla, both from a musical background as rich than different. with an album planned for the end of the year, that promises to be as explosive and magnetic, patchworks and favorite recordings make a strike again and confirm them a little more if needed, as the true warrant of the modern dancefloors loyalty, to the spirit of their mythical ancestors

2021 repress!!having launched 2016 with his octavia ep, lost & found boss guy j returns home to kick start 2017, with a new double-header born out of moments in time, inspiration and a quest for a specific sound.

the label with the big center hole is back! another two instrumentals on the a while keith murray got remixed on the b. heavy sampled material for the extra oldschool flavour. golden 90s sound for the underground.

this is a very limited run of 250 copies. mystical circles is a brand-new imprint with its eyes firmly on the dancefloor. the label s first missive comes courtesy of island times deejay, a dj/producer/re-editor previous best known for his dj mixes, which were uniformly full of obscure, hard-to-find disco gems. we have no idea what the source material is for either of the edits here, but they sound like caribbean disco records. disco smoking is unfeasibly heavy, driving and stomping, with mazy horn solos, jazzy funk guitars and hazy vocal snippets riding a booming bassline and sweaty, non-stop drums. dawson street is a more relaxed, and rubbery affair, albeit one rich in chiming melodies, spacey synth solos, winding sax lines and elastic bass guitar. as the welsh would say: tidy!

minimal, melancholic and deeply spirited noir jazz with an electronic twist! this is the extraordinary and original sound of aleksi myllykoski on his novel album dark days.

revelation ep is the debut release of australian record label denude, showcasing the latest work of melbourne based artist eddie hale. the title track revelation is both driving and warm - layered percussion lines rise and fall amongst detroit inspired stabs and subtly textured elements creating an infectious and uplifting groove. a2’s surging is both tunnelling and driving - straight into late night / early hours territory - with swirling sounds forming a hypnotizing sonic bath for the body and mind. rounding up the a side with a change of pace, aperture’s syncopated percussion leads us on a peaceful detour through ethereal synthscapes as we follow the round journey of an evolving sound that travels full circle. on the flip, joel mull’s hypno mix of revelations propels the listener with mechanical precision through dizzyingly expansive atmospheres of truly mind melting proportions. closing out the ep is terrace of an elephant, tranquil and reflective synth-work juxtaposed with coloured stabs striking through like comets across the night sky - brings us back down to earth in a contemplative mood.

the production and dj sets from metabomen aka krause duo is constructed for the most part as a free-spirited bunch with a special twist. it doesnt matter whether the material is with a jazz catalog, a frizzy sound, a dragging house or a techno press. an inimitable signature is not only clearly identified, no, but for the listeners of krause duo the good ol 10-second preview doesnt need three guesses. the answer from every contestant in the studio booth comes as if shot out from a cannon, so distinct is that krause formulation. from depth and nevertheless a clubby art with stay-fresh ideas. here, reliable doesnt mean stagnant. for the (up to now) 34th release from musikkrause, ian simmonds is comfortably on hand for both sides of the vinyl disc in the studio. out comes two monumentally deep waltzes full of raunchy charm and a knee-deep appreciation for jazz. the impact of both tracks is so spiritual that to speak of dance music is not the issue at hand, but rather something of a ghostly slam to the body. if you listen closely enough you can hear the diligent work of your own being. by means of the poetically-painted tones of simmonds and the clutter, which despite the many tonal designs and devices in this >authoritive-techno<, it has no fore-bearer. you can also tell the form of the work undertaken by the joint venture krause/simmonds isnt complete by a long shot even though in this manifestation there is nothing left to add. the distribution of dynamics appears to be so well-coordinated that there is simply the thrill of savoring such thoughtful club music
